Zubaida, 57, is a widowed grandmother from Qazil Ayaq Village in Khwaja Du Koh District, Jawzjan Province. After losing her husband, she faced serious challenges providing for her family. With limited income and few livelihood opportunities, she struggled to meet her household’s basic needs and to support her granddaughter’s education.
Through a sustainable livelihoods project implemented by World of Mother & Child Organization (WMCO) with support from the Mrasta Charity Foundation, Zubaida received goats, cotton seeds, and technical guidance to strengthen her livestock and agricultural activities. The combined support gave her a reliable source of income from livestock products, while cotton cultivation diversified her livelihood.

Within months, Zubaida was able to improve her family’s food security, cover essential household expenses, and invest in her granddaughter’s education. Today she continues to expand her small livelihood activities with confidence, and she is an inspiration to other women in her community.
This support has enabled me to become self-reliant and build a better future for my family.
